Our Story

Our Story

We began with a small group of people gathered to discuss God, dreams and destiny, and something bigger began to evolve. After a series of gatherings at an airport (where the name came from) we officially became The Landing Community Church in March of 2002.

Our Founder's Story

Joe S. Jones grew up in Ohio and is an avid Buckeye fan! He attended the University of Cincinnati on a vocal scholarship and became a follower of Christ in his first year there while watching a Billy Graham crusade. He transferred to Oral Roberts University where he graduated in 1982 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
After college Joe served more than two decades in the contemporary Christian music field, working with many artists such as Wayne Watson, Twila Paris, the Archers, Sweet Comfort Band, the Cruse Family and most notably Carman. In 2000, he resigned as Executive Director of Carman Ministries to pursue his dream of encouraging others through writing, speaking and music and The Landing was born two years later.
